At Hire A Hut, we take your privacy seriously. We only collect the information we need to meet our legal and insurance obligations, and nothing more.
What we collect
- Legal name, date of birth, and signature – to match against your lease agreement.
- Photo ID (NZ Driver Licence or Passport) – uploaded by you with the version and ID numbers blocked out.
What we do not collect
- We do not require or want your ID version number or full ID number. Please ensure these details are removed or blacked out before uploading.
Why we collect this information
- To confirm your identity and meet our insurance obligations.
- To ensure we can protect our assets and, if required, provide proof of identity to authorities such as the police or collection agencies.
How we store and use your information
- Your ID is held securely only for the duration of your lease.
- Once your lease ends, the copy of your ID is permanently deleted from our system.
- We will never use your ID for any other purpose or share it with third parties unless required by law or to enforce our lease agreement.
Your responsibility
By uploading your ID, you agree to ensure that all sensitive numbers (such as ID version or passport number) are blocked out before submission. This helps protect your privacy and ensures we only hold the minimum information needed.
